Love Quiz: Find Out What Kind of Lover You Are

Updated September 2026

This love quiz asks 17 questions about how you show affection, handle an argument, change your mind, and share decisions, then sorts you into one of 16 lover types. It is free, takes about five minutes, and needs no account. At the end you get your type, the element behind it, and a profile of how you love.

What does this love quiz measure?

Most love tests measure one thing, usually affection, and hand back a label. This one scores four separate axes and combines them, which is where the 16 types come from. Each question adds a point to one side of one axis, and the side with more points becomes a letter in your four-letter type code.

Emotional vs Logical
Whether you decide how to respond to a partner by what you feel or by what you have thought through. Both get you to a good answer. They just take different routes.
Passive vs Direct
Whether you name a problem the moment you notice it, or wait for a better moment and approach it sideways first.
Resolute vs Flexible
How much you move once your mind is made up, and how readily you meet a partner somewhere in the middle.
Autonomous vs Collaborative
How much room you need to sort things out alone, compared with how much you want to work them out together.

Your first two letters also set your element. Emotional and passive is Water, emotional and direct is Fire, logical and passive is Air, and logical and direct is Earth. The element is the short answer to how you love. The full type is the specific one.

What are the 16 lover types?

Four elements, four types each. Every one has a page describing how that type shows love, argues, and needs space, so you can read your own after the quiz and your partner's before they take it.

How is this different from a love language test?

A love language test answers one question: which form of affection lands best with you, out of words, touch, time, gifts, and acts of service. It is a useful thing to know and it is genuinely quick. What it does not cover is what happens when the two of you disagree, how much space you need afterwards, or how far either of you will bend. This quiz measures the affection question as one of its four axes, then adds the other three. If you only want the affection piece, start with the love language quiz instead.

How is this different from an attachment style quiz?

An attachment quiz describes how safe closeness feels to you, and what you reach for when a relationship feels unsteady: more reassurance, more distance, or neither. That sits underneath everything, but it stops short of the everyday mechanics. Our autonomous and collaborative axis covers similar ground from the behaviour side, in terms of what you do rather than what you fear. Read the attachment style quiz explainer if that is the part you came for.

What do you get at the end?

Your result page names your type and element, shows your score on all four axes as percentages, and links to the full profile for that type. From there you can open the compatibility page for your type and your partner's: there is one for every pair, 120 in total. If you want the numbers behind the framework first, our study reports how 11,357 classified results spread across the 16 types, including which type is rarest.

Love quiz FAQ

Is this love quiz free?
Yes. All 17 questions are free, there is no account to create and no email required to see your result. 11,403 people have finished it so far.
How long does the love quiz take?
About five minutes. There are 17 questions, each one a single choice, and your result appears as soon as you answer the last one.
What is the difference between a love quiz and a love test?
Nothing here. People search for both, and both land on the same 17 questions. What matters is what is being measured: this one scores four axes of how you love rather than a single score out of ten.
How accurate is a love quiz?
It measures what you say about yourself, so it is as accurate as your answers are honest. It is not a clinical assessment and it does not diagnose anything. The scoring is fixed, so the same answers always give the same type, and the type distribution is published in our study.
Can my partner take the love quiz too?
Yes, and that is where it gets useful. Send them the link, then open the compatibility page for your two types to read where you naturally fit and where you will have to translate for each other.
